      I tend to use James Brett Marble Chunky teamed with a plain yarn and a variegated yarn (generally Ice Magic Light) :-)

    I'm glad to find your pattern. Yesterday, a dear friend's granddaughter asked if I could make her son a Nemo-color SOFT blanket. I saw your pattern. The problem is that this little guy is very special - and is going to be 6 yo and is not yet able to walk. He loves Nemo and I thought your pattern would be good in a very soft yarn if I can find the "nemo" colors - but doubt a step-in tail would be good. Is there a way to make the tail just flat ... at the end of the blanket?

    Hello Robin,
    I am interested in making this mermaid tail for my grand-daughter's 18 inch American girl doll. Do you have any tips on how I would do that? I love your pattern and hope to make her a matching blanket, but just not enough time to get it finished by Christmas. The child size will be a birthday gift instead.
